Japan’s 2020 pandemic: successes, failures and more questions (20th December 2020)
Six months after our first conversation about Japan’s COVID measures, regular guest and long-time Japan resident Kevin Hamilton returns to RONJIRU JAPAN again for a heartfelt discussion about where Japan is now, what has characterized its past year 2020, and what’s on the horizon in 2021.
In this video, Kevin and JayTee discuss the sad state of affairs in which our elderly loved ones die alone in hospital, and in which the number of people who have taken their life far outnumbers those who have died from the pandemic. Although that sounds dark, Kevin and JayTee try to keep it light and relevant. Nevertheless, these are topics that need to be addressed and given due thought. The results of our imposed “new normal” are beginning to show themselves. Avoiding these topics now only postpones a larger and more difficult discussion later.
